DON’T GIVE UP
Has God promised you something, but you can’t see any evidence of it possibly happening? The Word of God reminds us: ‘If it seems slow…wait patiently, for it will surely take place’ (Habakkuk 2:3). When God gives us a promise, it’s like a seed. First it must fall into the fertile soil of faith and be allowed time to grow, trusting God’s perfect timing. We must water it regularly through prayer and proclaiming the Word of God.
The story of Joseph’s life could be summed up in this Scripture: ‘Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him’ (Psalm 105:19). When we test something, we reveal its strength and see if it holds up or falls apart under pressure. Life’s trials and tests will reveal our strength and test our ‘durability’, but it is important to hold on to our faith: ‘Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him’ (Hebrews 11:6). When our faith is stretched and tested by the trials of life, God doesn’t give up on us.
So don’t give up if things don’t seem to be happening – believe and trust God’s promises.
