CHOOSE FREEDOM
‘There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.’ Proverbs 14:12
When we’re hurting, we can end up isolating ourselves. People try and help but our pain is all we can think about so we push them away. We may be hurting so much that we feel like we can’t trust anyone, including God. And if we believe God can’t help us, we’ll turn away from him too. We’ll avoid reading his Word or praying to find an answer. We can try and find other ways of coping with pain, but those ways never give us true freedom. The Bible says: ‘There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death’ (Proverbs 14:12).
The only right way to find real freedom is to turn to God. ‘Give all your worries to him, because he cares about you’ (1 Peter 5:7). Throughout the Psalms, we see David crying out to God through tough times. He says: ‘My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare…Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish’ (Psalm 25:15;17). David chose to keep his eyes on God and to turn to God for the comfort and freedom he needed.
When we choose to let God into our pain, his love and power go right to the root of the issues and set us completely free.
Today, choose to invite God into the places in your life that are causing you pain. Then choose to allow him to set you completely free.
