A NEW INDENTITY IN CHRIST
Think of Peter—God built His church on Peter. But long before he was “Peter,” he was “Simon.” Simon was a challenge for Jesus. He often failed Him and put his foot in his mouth more than once. But look what Jesus said about Simon, you can be changed!
Matthew 16:18 Jesus said to Simon, “And I tell you that you are Peter, which means rock, and upon this rock I will build my church.”
Christ gave Peter a new identity that pointed to his calling. Just like Peter, who you are in Christ must come first. God cares so much more about who you are than what you do. Please hear that, God cares about who you are. The good news is, Jesus can help you change to become that better spouse, parent, worker – just turn your life totally over to Him. Here is what the bible says:
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Before you walk into this busy day, remind yourself who you are in Christ. From that stable foundation, you’ll be able to do exactly what He has asked you to do to be successful in all areas of your life.
